GLI worked with a direct to consumer company and successfully saved them over $2M per year in shipping costs. The company was seasonal and had a pinch point in receiving due to the volume of inbound freight during the seasonal period. Trucks were lined up down the street waiting to deliver every day.
GLI worked with the purchasing department to change freight terms to freight collect, reducing the number of freight carriers delivering per day to three. By consolidating carriers, GLI worked with the carriers daily to segregate priority purchase orders and have them placed at the front of the deliveries. Within one week, undelivered backorders were reduced by 80% and the receiving department had complete control of the daily inbound shipments.

CROWD FUNDED STARTUP COMPANY
GLI worked with a startup company to create a supply chain from the overseas manufacturer to the consumer receiving the product at their homes—utilizing four different modes of freight. By looking at all possibilities the modes had to offer, the cost came in 25% under the original budgeted cost per shipment with no disruption of service levels the client expected for the time in transit.
FREIGHT CLAIMS
GLI was hired by a company with a significant amount of freight claims due to the product they ship. GLI assisted the client with a new design of packaging that resulted in several improvements. Freight claims were reduced by 95%. The new packaging allowed GLI to put out a request for proposal to carriers who previously declined to work with the client due to past claims. The process resulted in an improvement in service levels and a reduction in freight cost of 20%.
